Restless Systems

Restless Systems is an independent PC game development company set up by Simon Edmunds in Tāhuna / Queenstown, Aotearoa / New Zealand.

Inspired by adventures in the stunning local alpine environment, Restless Systems seeks to create a visually-mesmerising, chilled-out simulation as an antidote to an overload of stressful high-twitch gaming, frustrating micro-management and game-design which seeks to relentlessly bombard the player with mechanics intended to force them to constantly interact and intervene. According the Edmunds, a foundational belief at Restless Systems is that players should be able to “play it their way”, meaning that all key gameplay features and mechanics are customisable on-the-fly, without fears of save-game corruption, or the frustrations of having to start a game again to experience a mechanic or difficulty level differently. Restless Systems encourages community mods and mod-ability is built into South of Clouds

Restless Systems games are built using the Unity engine, and programmed in C#. 3D Modelling and Animation are handled by Blender.

 

I don’t see why you shouldn’t be able to turn down the sim and have a chilled-out after-work experience one day, and a hard-core survivalist experience the next, without having to start a game again. That kind of frustration can ruin a simulation’s appeal.
